Site Assessment, Planning and Mobilisation
Before work commenced, EVOGENIC reviewed the affected areas, access requirements, surface conditions and operational constraints of the property. Our specialist dry ice blasting equipment, compressed-air supply, extraction systems and supporting equipment were then mobilised to site. The project was carefully coordinated with the insurance-appointed contractor to ensure our fire restoration works integrated efficiently with the wider reinstatement schedule.

RAMS, Safety Controls and Site Preparation
Project-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements were prepared before the restoration work began. The work area was isolated and protected, with controlled access, ventilation, extraction, lighting and appropriate personal protective equipment established. Surrounding fixtures and unaffected surfaces were carefully screened to control dislodged soot and maintain a safe, organised working environment throughout the project.

Dry Ice Blasting Fire-Damaged Roof Rafters and Timbers
The exposed wooden roof rafters and structural timbers were treated using controlleddry ice blasting for fire and soot damage removal. Compressed air propelled dry ice particles onto the affected surfaces, helping to release carbon deposits, smoke staining and embedded soot without saturating the wood with water. Blasting pressure, nozzle selection and application technique were adjusted to clean the fire-damaged timber while preserving its natural texture and structural surface.

Soot Removal from Brickwork and Masonry
Dry ice blasting was also used to clean the fire-affected brickwork and masonry. The process removed stubborn soot and combustion residue from the textured and porous surfaces, including joints and difficult-to-access areas. Because dry ice sublimates on impact, the process generated no secondary blasting media, significantly reducing additional waste and avoiding the water ingress associated with pressure washing or wet chemical cleaning.

Final Inspection and Restoration Outcome
Following completion, the cleaned roof timbers, rafters, brickwork and masonry were inspected with the appointed contractor. Heavy soot deposits and visible fire contamination had been successfully removed, leaving the original substrates substantially cleaner and ready for further assessment, treatment or reinstatement.
