Inspection
The Mitsubishi GTO inspection began with a detailed assessment of the underbody, chassis sections, suspension components, wheel arches and known corrosion-prone areas. Before any dry ice blasting or underbody protection work started, we identified built-up road contamination, ageing coatings, exposed metalwork and areas requiring targeted rust treatment. This allowed us to create a tailored preservation plan designed specifically for the condition, structure and long-term protection needs of this iconic Japanese performance car.

Dry ice blasting
With the inspection complete, the Mitsubishi GTO underwent a comprehensive underbody dry ice blasting process to remove years of accumulated dirt, oil residue, road grime and surface contamination. Using non-abrasive automotive dry ice blasting, we safely cleaned the chassis, suspension components, wheel arches and underbody panels, exposing the true condition of the vehicle while preserving original factory finishes wherever possible. This critical stage provided a clean foundation for rust treatment, cavity wax application and long-term underbody protection, supporting the preservation of this increasingly collectible Japanese performance icon.

Rust treatment
Following dry ice blasting, attention turned to preserving the long-term condition of this Mitsubishi GTO. Areas of surface corrosion were identified and treated to help prevent further deterioration, particularly in vulnerable underbody areas exposed to decades of road use and environmental exposure. Addressing corrosion at this stage helps maintain the integrity of the vehicle, supports future maintenance and restoration work, and ensures this increasingly rare JDM performance car is better protected for years to come.
-
Cavity wax
With the underbody cleaned and corrosion addressed, specialist cavity wax was applied throughout key enclosed sections of this Mitsubishi GTO to provide long-term protection where moisture and contaminants can accumulate unseen. As many ageing JDM vehicles are susceptible to internal corrosion over time, cavity wax plays an important role in helping to preserve structural integrity, protect vulnerable metalwork and support the long-term condition of this increasingly sought-after Japanese performance car.
-
Underbody protection
To complete the preservation process, a professional underbody protection coating was applied to help shield this Mitsubishi GTO from moisture, road salt and environmental contaminants. The customer opted for Dinitrol 4941, designed to provide durable, long-term corrosion protection. This final stage helps safeguard the chassis, underbody panels and vulnerable areas exposed to everyday driving conditions. By investing in preventative protection today, the owner can enjoy greater peace of mind while helping to preserve the condition, originality and future value of this iconic Japanese performance car.
